Chandler Invite 2022 @ Tumbleweed Park

Our first meet did not disappoint, even though there were hot temperatures up to 95 degrees for the final races the Hamilton Huskies still had outstanding performances in all boys and girls class races. Our Frosh started off first and both Adam Slater and Abbey Schultz had their debut 5k as high schoolers and finished in the top 10 of each race respectively. Adam finished 3rd place out of 183 runners and Abbey finished 10th out of 140 freshman girls. Next up were our sophomore boys, they fared well with two top 10 finishes, Chase Markunas placed 3rd overall with a 5k personal record of 16:55.4 and Theo McDaid finished 6th overall and ran a new 5k PR of 17:13.8. Our Junior Jaeden Vogt ran a new PR of 20:13.5 getting closer to breaking the 20 minute barrier. Andrew Gibby led the way with an overall win in the Senior race and the overall best time of the day in all of the races. He ran 15:43.2 and a new PR for the 5k distance. Jacob Slater finished second for the senior boy Huskies and 7th place in the Senior race. On the girls side, Sage Patzer led the Lady Huskies to an 8th place finish in the senior race and ran 19:58.2 while Lily Orban finished in the top 20 and ran a PR time of 21:31.8. Next up Fountain Hills on Saturday, September 10th. Our varsity teams will race together for the first time this season and we will see where they stack amongst all the other top Arizona teams.

Post Race Smiles for the Huskies

The Husky Cross Country team returned to Fountain Hills Invite this past Saturday and raced in three sections for both boys and girls. First to race were the varsity boys team in a fully loaded field of 359 runners and 50 teams. Our top runner was Junior Andrew Gibby, placing 19th overall and scoring 17 points. Our next three scorers were Juniors Jacob Slater (29pts), Nick Valle (46pts), and Andrew Mickey (69pts). Rounding out the top five for the varsity team was Freshman phenom Chase Markunas finishing one place behind Mickey and scoring 70 points. Boys scored 230 points which gave them a third place finish overall.

Our next race of the day was our Lady Huskies Varsity team who placed 8th out of 38 teams and finished 9 points away from top rival teams Chandler and Xavier. Leading the Huskies pack was Junior Sage Patzer finishing in 19:59 and placing 16th place out of 286 runners. Our next four scorers were Senior Rose Connolly (46pts), Freshman Corinne Warriner (49pts), Junior Lilliette Orban (76pts) and Senior Allie Maslin (102pts).

Open Races included Senior Michael Prater finishing third place overall in the Senior/Junior Boys Open, Senior Caitlyn Nelsen finishing 19th place overall in the Senior/Junior Girls Open. Freshman Theo McDaid finished third place overall in the boys Soph/Frosh race and Freshmen Ariela Lerner and Carina Trujillo finished 37th and 38th out of the girls Soph/Frosh race.

Freshman Boys Win Chandler Invite

First Race of the Season


The Huskies first race of the season was at the Chandler Invite this past Saturday and there were many standout performances including the highlight of the Boys Freshman team capturing the overall team win with a score of 21 points. Top three places scored for team points which included three medal performances. Chase Markunas led the Freshman with a solid debut Huskies performance in a time of 17:11.8 for the just shy of 5k course at Tumbleweed Park. Second Huskies finisher was Dominick Muller for fourth place overall and a time of 17.47.9 and third scorer for the Huskies was Theo McDaid who placed 16th overall and ran 18:46.5 for his first ever race in the maroon jersey. Way to go boys!

Other highlights for the Huskies included our medal winners in the following races: Freshman Girls – Corrine Warriner: 6th place finisher running 21:01.9; Junior Girls – Sage Patzer :13th place finisher running 20:29; Junior Boys – Andrew Gibby: 3rd place finisher running 16:09.7; Senior Girls Rose Connolly 10th place finisher and Allie Maslin 16th place overall in the Seniors Girls race.
